The Fayetteville Police Department receives, catalogs, and stores evidentiary, abandoned, forfeited and found property in accordance with state and local law. We hold items for six months and try to find owners of unclaimed property prior to putting the property up for a public auction.
Items vary in type and include anything of value in good condition that has yet to be claimed. Property for auction can include items such as bicycles, power tools, clothing, sunglasses, jewelry, and electronic equipment. Typically, police auctions are held in the spring and fall, and we hold anywhere between two and four auctions each year.
To find out about police auctions and when the City of Fayetteville Police Department will hold the next Police Auction of lost and recovered property, please contact the Property Evidence Manager at 479-587-3586 between the normal operating hours of 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The date, time, and location of auctions are also announced in the Star Shopper.
